Chapter Community Service Project – April 27

CWC-ASSP Community Service Project at the Sunshine Division

When: April 27th 10:00 am – Noon.  

Where: 687 N Thompson St. Portland 97227

The Sunshine Division,, is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide emergency  food and clothing relief to Portland families and individuals  in need.  We will be assisting in the warehouse with needed tasks such as sorting food and/or clothing,  building food boxes, or working on special projects.   Those of you who have participated in our other service project events know that, while our purpose is to give back to our community,  we also have fun working shoulder to shoulder with our friends while doing the needed work.

Additional details about location, parking and attire are provided below:

Parking: Street parking only, please pay attention to signage, most parking spaces near our warehouse are two hours only. Carpooling is encouraged and we are right off of the Yellow Max Line.

Arrival: Your group is scheduled for a two hour block of time, please arrive on time. Upon arrival will be asked to sign in, given a brief tour of Sunshine Division and organization history and then begin your group task.

Entrance: Please walk down our narrow driveway and enter through the back warehouse door. PLEASE DO NOT enter through our front door for client services.

Attire: Volunteers are encouraged to dress in layers and wear sturdy closed-toe shoes. Volunteers will be working in our un-heated warehouse.

Group Tasks: Group tasks include food sorting, pantry stocking, emergency food box building, clothing sorting, clothing hanging, and special projects. Volunteer tasks are based on current and immediate needs of warehouse at the time of group session.
