Topic: Navigating DEQ’s Enforcement Process – Stormwater and Hazardous Waste

Representatives from the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality’s (DEQ) Office of Compliance and Enforcement will walk through the steps in DEQ’s formal enforcement process, with a focus on opportunities where companies cited with environmental violations can provide information to DEQ and work towards a successful resolution of the case. They will also describe common compliance issues and provide case examples in the areas of hazardous waste and stormwater.

        Becka Puskas, J.D.                              Sarah Wheeler, J.D.

Becka Puskas is the Interim Manager of DEQ’s Office of Compliance and Enforcement. She has been with DEQ for 8 years. Becka’s case work has focused mostly on air, greenhouse gas, and water quality matters. Becka holds a J.D. from Boston College Law School.

Sarah Wheeler is an Environmental Law Specialist in DEQ’s Office of Compliance and Enforcement. She has been with DEQ for 18 years and specializes in hazardous waste and solid waste cases. Sarah holds a J.D. from Lewis & Clark Law School.

Walk-Ins & Fees: While walk-ins are welcome with an additional fee (ASSP Members $30 / Non-Members $37.50), we greatly appreciate your registration and advance payment before the registration close date so that we can provide an accurate food and seating headcount to the venue. Dietary Restrictions: Please contact a Chapter Officer with any dietary restrictions.

New ASSP Members: If you are attending a Chapter meeting for the first time, please use the code provided in your welcome e-mail to waive your registration fees for your first meeting when registering online. If you do not pre-register and choose to join us day-of, please bring a copy of your welcome e-mail with the code to waive your fee.

Cancellations: Cancellation requests made after the close of registration are not eligible for a refund. If you make a request to cancel your registration before the event date, your registration credit may be used to attend the membership meeting immediately following the meeting you could not attend, as long as you reach out and request a credit before the event date. Please contact one of the following chapter officers to notify them of your cancellation and to request a credit for the next meeting: President, President-Elect, VP, Treasurer, Treasurer-Elect. If you are not able to attend the meeting immediately following the meeting you could not attend, we are not able to extend your registration credit.
