Topic: Oregon OSHA Update
In what has become an annual event, Oregon OSHA’s administrator – Michael Wood, gives an update of recent, current and future regulatory events and happenings in Oregon. For Oregon safety professionals, it is the “State of the State Safety Programs” address. He will be talking about both federal and state activities as they relate to occupational safety and health.
Michael Wood, CSP is the Administrator of Oregon OSHA, a position he has held since September 2005. A certified safety professional, he came to Oregon OSHA from the occupational safety and health program at the Washington Department of Labor and Industries. He is an almost 30-year state employee, having started his career working for the Washington State Legislature in 1994. Having made the mistake of dividing his state employment between two states and two completely separate retirement systems, he reports that he expects to continue working for Oregon OSHA until he is 85. There are unconfirmed and unreliable rumors that he has a sense of humor. Few suggest, however, that it is a good one.
We will also be rolling out the American Society of Safety Professionals official name change (formerly American Society of Safety Engineers).
Venue: Hayden’s Lakefront Grill
