Topic: Preventing Serious Injuries and Fatalities in the Workplace

The potential for a serious injury and fatality (SIF) exists in many work environments but simply managing routine safety programs does not necessarily address SIFs. In this session you will learn practical steps for identifying SIF potential, best practices for prevention, and resources to engage employees to help prevent a serious injury or fatality from occurring at your business.

Speaker: Christina Dykes

Christina Dykes has worked as a safety management consultant with SAIF for over 12 years. She has a degree in exercise science and previous experience as a personal trainer. Some of her areas of specialty include agriculture, strain/sprain prevention, total worker health, young worker safety, and most recently a leadership role in SAIF’s development of serious injury and fatality resources. She is passionate about her work with businesses to prevent injuries and enjoys working with business owners to make safety engaging and fun.

Speaker: Matt Plummer

Matt Plummer has been with SAIF for 3 years working as a safety management consultant. He is on the safety services team helping manage safety for all SAIF’s small business policy holders. Prior to SAIF he worked as safety coordinator for county government and over a decade teaching college health and human performance with a variety of degrees in exercise science.

For new ASSP Members that are attending a meeting for the first time, please use the code provided in your welcome email to waive your registration fees for your first meeting when registering online. If you do not pre-register and choose to join us day-of, please bring a copy of your welcome email with the code to waive your fee.

While walk-ins are welcome with an additional fee, we greatly appreciate your registration before the registration close date so that we can provide an accurate food and seating headcount to the venue. Cancellation requests made after the close of registration are not eligible for a refund. If you make a request to cancel your registration before the event date, your registration credit may be used to attend the membership meeting immediately following the meeting you could not attend, as long as you reach out and request a credit before the event date. Please contact one of the following chapter officers to notify them of your cancellation and to request a credit for the next meeting: President, President-Elect, VP, Treasurer, Treasurer-Elect. If you are not able to attend the meeting immediately following the meeting you could not attend, we are not able to extend your registration credit.
