Topic: Building & Supporting a Safety Culture

Promoting health and safety is everyone’s job, and the best way to support that effort is to build and sustain a strong safety community. This presentation discusses different types of employees who make up a safety community, including their strengths and their challenges. It will suggest strategies for engaging the different members of your safety community and provide resources that you can take back and use to build and support strong safety communities at your organization.

Speaker: Leigh Manning, MPH, CSP, ARM, Senior Safety Management Consultant, SAIF Corporation

Leigh Manning, MPH, CSP, ARM, is a Senior Safety Management Consultant for SAIF Corporation in Eugene and has been working in professional safety for more than 20 years. Her job includes creating safety and health resources for employers to use to advance workplace safety, managing SAIF’s safety and health webinars, and outreach activities such as speaking at conferences.

Walk-Ins & Fees: While walk-ins are welcome with an additional fee (ASSP Members $30 / Non-Members $37.50), we greatly appreciate your registration and advance payment before the registration close date so that we can provide an accurate food and seating headcount to the venue. 

Dietary Restrictions: Please contact a Chapter Officer with any dietary restrictions.

New ASSP Members: If you are attending a Chapter meeting for the first time, please use the code provided in your welcome e-mail to waive your registration fees for your first meeting when registering online. If you do not pre-register and choose to join us day-of, please bring a copy of your welcome e-mail with the code to waive your fee.

Emeritus Members: If you hold Emeritus status with ASSP (Types of ASSP Memberships | ASSP) you may register as such for additional cost savings on Chapter meetings. 

Career Bridge Members: For those individuals in between or transitioning careers, you may register as such for additional cost savings on Chapter meetings.

Cancellations: Cancellation requests made after the close of registration are not eligible for a refund. If you make a request to cancel your registration before the event date, your registration credit may be used to attend the membership meeting immediately following the meeting you could not attend, as long as you reach out and request a credit before the event date. Please contact one of the following chapter officers to notify them of your cancellation and to request a credit for the next meeting: President, President-Elect, VP, Treasurer, Treasurer-Elect. If you are not able to attend the meeting immediately following the meeting you could not attend, we are not able to extend your registration credit.
