Metro operates two solid waste transfer stations, two household hazardous materials recycling centers, a latex paint recycling center. As such, Metro has contracted for safety, health and environmental services to supplement the efforts of the in-house safety staff. Contracted services have included; hazardous waste and emergency response operations training (HAZWOPER), with annual refresher with emergency response drills and incident command training. Contactors have also provided asbestos awareness training and industrial hygiene services to include; noise levels monitoring, potential employee exposure monitoring, and the evaluation of emissions sources for new and existing process equipment.Read More
Under the direction of the Risk and Safety Manager, lead, manage, develop and implement comprehensive safety and health programs for City employees. Interpret complex state and federal safety laws and policies. Interact with management and employees in City departments, and act as a technical advisor on safety issues. Direct the administration of safety training to employees and departments. Identify, analyze, and minimize exposure to personnel and property losses; serve as an ambassador for the City to promote safe work procedures.
