Topic: Nurses Go Hollywood During Covid-19

The Covid-19 pandemic shook up work places and roles in many ways that we’ve never experienced before. During this time, it was critical to remain flexible and open to new opportunities and be open to new experiences. Ms. Harrelson-Allen and Ms. Danahy are RNs who were approached for a unique opportunity during the Covid-19 to assist on Hollywood productions utilizing their robust Health & Safety backgrounds. Join this session to learn more about how they applied their 55 years of combined nursing experience in this unique role.

Lauren Danahy, RN, BS, MBA, CCM, LNCC, CCHP

Disability & Catastrophic Nurse Case Manager and Legal Nurse Consultant

Ms. Danahy is a native Bostonian transplanted to Portland, OR. Ms. Danahy has 25+ years of diverse nursing experience that began after completing a six-year service obligation in the U.S. Army Military Police Corps. Ms. Danahy completed a RN to BS nursing program at Oregon Health and Science University, graduating Cum Laude. Finding herself in Corporate America as an Occupational Health Nurse specializing in workers’ compensation, disaster preparedness, OSHA and quality assurance, she decided to pursue a MBA in Healthcare Management to position herself for the future and have her own nurse consulting firm.

Ms. Danahy is Board Certified in Case Management from the Case Management Society of America (CMSA) and is a Board Certified Legal Nurse Consultant from the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants (AALNC). Ms. Danahy is a member of the Workers’ Compensation Claims Association of Oregon, CMSA and AAOHN. Ms. Danahy is a member of the Oregon State Bar Associate Sections for Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, Disability Law, Elder Law, Health Law, Products Liability and Workers’ Compensation. She holds board positions on: OHSU School of Nursing Alumni Association Advisory Council, and is the current President of the Oregon State Association of Occupational Health Nurses.

Ms. Danahy has worked for Fortune 500 companies and national carriers holding positions from staff level nurse to C-Suite Level. She currently is active practice in Workers’ Comp, Psych, Occupational Health, Corrections Health and Legal Nurse Consulting. She is a mentor for new nurses as they transition into their professional roles.

Her special interests include risk management, catastrophic case management, workers’ compensation and public health. Ms. Danahy speaks nationally and has been published in industry magazines as well as peer-reviewed journals.

 

Beth Harrelson Allen, BSN, RN

Beth Harrelson Allen is a Registered Nurse Executive with 30+ years in healthcare developing and directing clinical risk, quality, patient safety, compliance and performance improvement to drive patient outcomes and a culture of safety. She has extensive operations experience developing and implementing new sites, orientations, evidence-based medical programs and policy including crafting and growing client relationships. She has demonstrated success in driving accreditation of patient-centered medical homes and hospitals in accordance with Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) regulations and Joint Commission standards. Beth also has accomplishments in developing medical information systems, budgets, presenting to governing boards, strategic planning, patient experience and modeling culture as member of an executive team. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Beth led the Health & Safety Department for Netflix production as Covid Safety Officer/Health Safety Supervisor overseeing 20% of production budget spend to protect over 700 crew and cast.
