Topic: Drugs of Abuse: An Update from the Oregon Poison Control Center

Drugs of abuse in the community find their way into the workplace, schools and homes. A representative of the Oregon Poison Center will provide an update on the types of drugs causing the most serious problems in our area today, and those emerging on the horizon. Learn how to recognize the drug’s effects and “overdose” risk. In this session, we’ll learn about the most prevalent drugs of abuse currently in our communities, how to recognize the most common signs of overdose, and apply appropriate first aid or rescue treatments that may be available.

Speaker: Annie Duncan, BSN, RN, CEN, CSPI

Annie is the Nurse Manager of the Oregon Poison Center.  After graduating from nursing school in 2010, she was accepted to the critical care nurse residency program at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, TN.  In 2012, she moved home to Oregon and worked in the emergency department, ICU and cardiovascular unit before joining the Oregon Poison Center as a SPI (specialist in poison information) in 2019.  In her free time, she enjoys listening to podcasts, playing with her golden-doodle (Clancy), and traveling.

While walk-ins are welcome with an additional fee, we greatly appreciate your registration before the registration close date so that we can provide an accurate food and seating headcount to the venue.

For new ASSP Members that are attending a meeting for the first time, please use the code provided in your welcome email to waive your registration fees for your first meeting when registering online. If you do not pre-register and choose to join us day-of, please bring a copy of your welcome email with the code to waive your fee.

Cancellations: Cancellation requests made after the close of registration are not eligible for a refund. If you make a request to cancel your registration before the event date, your registration credit may be used to attend the membership meeting immediately following the meeting you could not attend, as long as you reach out and request a credit before the event date. Please contact one of the following chapter officers to notify them of your cancellation and to request a credit for the next meeting: President, President-Elect, VP, Treasurer, Treasurer-Elect. If you are not able to attend the meeting immediately following the meeting you could not attend, we are not able to extend your registration credit.
