Topic: Lead, PCBs, and Mercury: The Hidden Traps of Construction

Lead, PCBs, and mercury are often included in a pre-construction hazardous materials survey, but even experienced construction managers struggle to implement controls and satisfy regulatory requirements. We’ll discuss how hazmat surveys work in the real world, as well as how to handle the varying in regulatory requirements.

Joel McCarthy has worked as an industrial hygienist for about 18 years. His experience spans heavy industry to public schools. Currently, Joel is primarily occupied with assisting several Portland area school districts manage hazardous materials in bond-related construction programs.

For new ASSP Members that are attending a meeting for the first time, please use the code provided in your welcome email to waive your registration fees for your first meeting when registering online. If you do not pre-register and choose to join us day-of, please bring a copy of your welcome email with the code to waive your fee.

While walk-ins are welcome with an additional fee, we greatly appreciate your registration before the registration close date so that we can provide an accurate food and seating headcount to the venue. Cancellation requests made after the close of registration are not eligible for a refund. If you make a request to cancel your registration before the event date, your registration credit may be used to attend the membership meeting immediately following the meeting you could not attend, as long as you reach out and request a credit before the event date. Please contact one of the following chapter officers to notify them of your cancellation and to request a credit for the next meeting: President, President-Elect, VP, Treasurer, Treasurer-Elect. If you are not able to attend the meeting immediately following the meeting you could not attend, we are not able to extend your registration credit.
